MOVIES IN GLEN ELLEN

“Mostly Martha” directed by Sandra Nettlebeck has the elegance associated with haute cuisine, a terrific cast, great-looking entrees and a dash of romance – the perfect comedy/drama/romance movie for Valentine sweethearts.

The film plays Tuesday February 13th at 7:30PM Jack London Village, 14301 Arnold Drive in Glen Ellen.  Follow movie signs to the upstairs venue.

Breaking News!

“The Little Match Girl”  a short animated film and 2006 film festival favorite was just nominated for an Oscar.  It will screen before “Mostly Martha.”

Martha Klein, a thirty-something chef is one of the best in Germany, but she is business-like and strict in her approach to her craft. When it comes to food, she is a font of knowledge, but she cooks with determination, not passion. For her, running a kitchen is not about exploding creativity, but about precision, timing, and mastering logistics. Her personal life is empty.

That all changes when she must care for her 8 year old niece and her boss at the restaurant hires another chef, the bubbly, irrepressible Mario (Sergio Castellitto),  to help in the kitchen.

That warning applies here!  No matter what kind of appetite for food you may have after seeing this film, your desire for quality cinema will be sated!

The acting is top-notch. Martina Gedeck is glorious as Martha and Italian film star Sergio Castellitto is delightful as Mario, the man with a big heart and a bigger personality.

There's plenty of food to be seen in “Mostly Martha,” and, as one would suspect, there's a symbolic significance to all of it.   As much as any other motion picture that employs the preparation provides the perfect blend of cinematic nourishment and gratification and consumption of food as a key element, this film

Movies in Glen Ellen is a monthly film series sponsored by the Wine Country Film Festival, a non-profit organization.   The film  won Wine Country Film Festival Best of Fest in 2003
